Brian Wilson takes Asheville back to the sixties

The Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour makes its way to the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium

The Thomas Wolfe Auditorium was briefly transformed into what felt like a time machine last Thursday night when Brian Wilson and members of The Beach Boys took the stage. The legendary musician and songwriter was joined by a host of other talented performers to bring Pet Sounds to life.

This one is going to be big

No, you're not in California and you're not dreaming. Brian Wilson himself, along with fellow Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin, will be playing at the US Cellular Center this Thursday night in celebration of Pet Sounds 50th anniversary. The once-in-a-lifetime show will mark the first time Brian Wilson has played here in Asheville.

Camp Lo took the stage first, with slick hats and flashy gold chains no less. Their arrival was met with heavy applause as they went right into spitting their catchy, charismatic flows.

Independence Incidents

The String Cheese Incident rocked out with a wild crowd two nights in a row at the U.S. Cellular Center.
Classics like “Birdland,” “Mouna Bowa,” and “Texas” incited early pandemonium in the building. The volume of twirling and dancing could rival any ballet.

For over 20 years now, String Cheese Incident has been a staple of the festival circuit and the Asheville music scene. Starting at Be Here Now and eventually moving to what is now The U.S. Cellular Center, String Cheese has played over a dozen “Incidents” here over the years. Now they have a new Summer tour on the horizon, which includes two nights in Asheville over the 4th of July weekend.
