Return of the Mac

This Sunday at Thomas Wolfe Auditroium, Ashevillians will get a star studded lineup of indie goodness in the form of Boulevards, Tonstartssbandht, and Mac Demarco. The downtown venue will serve as the perfect spot to kickback and take in all the sounds of the equally talented musicians playing the sold out show.

The evening kicks off with Boulevards, Jamil Rashad's funkalicious R&B solo project that is highly danceable and groovy. Every track Rashad puts out has a familiar sound that makes you wonder why you've never heard that particular song before, surely it was played everywhere on the radio back in 1986! His most recent single “Steady” came out last week and keeps the smooth and soulful upbeat vibe Boulevards is known for.

Tonstartssbandht are gods within the DIY experimental scene, and their presence at The Meadow show this Sunday should not be understated. Known for their super lo-fi and spaced out sound, siblings Edwin and Andy White's foray into aural experimentation has garnered them success and admiration far and wide. Having just put out their first official full-length album Sorcerer on Mexican Summer, the White brothers show no sign of slowing down.

The man, the myth, the legend—Mac Demarco. Nothing really needs to be said about the goofball music master who's the main event at Sunday night's concert. If you don't already know about his always perfectly sunny musical compositions then you need to stop reading and start listening, your soul will thank you. Maybe consider starting with his newest offering This Old Dog which was released at the start of this month.
