One night, four bands, tons of fun

The sun was just starting to set right before the stacked show kicked off at Fleetwood's this past Sunday evening. The vintage-tinged venue was hosting The Obsessives, Nervous Dater, Cocordion, and Flugel for the night. Some people were conversing outside, others were browsing the quirky and cool retro wares inside—but overall everyone there was ready to rock and roll.

First up was Cocordion, a three piece experimental pop band from Colorado. Their performance really set the tone for the night. Their whole set was so solid and chill. Everyone in the crowd was vibing out to their ambient but still really interesting and upbeat sound. The guys did their thing for 4 or 5 songs, thanked the audience and pumped them up for the next band.

Nervous Dater was up next and kept the night going with another extremely enjoyable set. The Brooklyn group's most recent album Don't Be a Stranger has some seriously heavy hitting pieces and is definitely worth crankin' up in your car on a summer drive. Lead vocalist Rachel Lightner has such a kick ass vocal style and stage presence, you didn't want the set to ever end, but then you remembered there were still two more amazing bands left tonight!

Next up was DC indie rock band The Obsessives. These guys are honestly one of my favorite bands of the year and they did not disappoint. The band managed to pack new and old songs into their brief but satisfying set. The group put a fresh electronic spin on some crowd favorites that really set the audience into a dancing frenzy. It was shaping up to be an amazing night.

The last band to grace Fleetwood's were locals Flugel. They kept the dancing going and kept the energy in the venue super high. Their sound was fun and engaging and the crowd really was having a great night being able to partake in such an excellent display of talent all packed into one room.

All in all, Sunday was one of the most satisfying shows of the year so far. Everyone totally killed it and managed to have a lot of fun in the process and it showed. I can't wait to see all these guys enjoy massive success because every single one of them really were such joys to be able to watch and appreciate.
