Built To Spill get ready to thrill

Built To Spill get ready to thrill image

This Friday night, Ashevillians will get a chance to jam out with indie rock veterans Built To Spill at The Orange Peel. But wait there's more: Hop Along and Alex G are the openers. Honestly I should just stop writing now and you should go buy tickets because you won't wanna miss this.

Hailing from Boise, Idaho, Built to Spill have been in the game since 1992 and are known as masters of their genre. If the nineties had a justice league type organization of the decade's top all-stars of indie music, Built To Spill would almost certainly be a part of it. Unique, elective and wonderfully simple all at the same time—their music represents all the best of what indie music should be.

If you missed Hop Along the last time they came to Asheville with Speedy Ortiz in May, now is your chance to redeem yourself. Thank goodness. A four-piece coming to us from Philadelphia, Hop Along is a perfect lo-fi dream. Fervently sincere lyrics coupled with totally sweet riffs come together for a splendidly mellow sound. Their latest album Painted Shut is truly something special.

Rounding the night out is Alex G, real name Alexander Giannascoli, a multi-instrumentalist also from Philadelphia. Utilizing his bedroom as a studio, he built his audience through DIY releases on bandcamp. Impeccable songwriting and ridiculous melodies flow through each fuzzy song from the mind of Giannascoli.
